1. Used in the production of methyl chlorosilane, tetramethyl lead, methyl cellulose, etc., a small amount used in the production of quaternary ammonium compounds, pesticides, used as a solvent in the production of isobutyl rubber.
2. Important raw material for organic synthesis. Mainly used in the production of silicone compounds - methyl chlorosilane, and methyl cellulose.
